7 Things You Should Do Every Day

Updated: May 16, 2022

Over the past few years, I have done a ton of research and reflection about how I should start and end my day.

Several routines later, I am still on the quest for the perfect daily routine. Some habits have come and gone since the beginning of this journey so I am going to talk about 7 things that I have noticed the best results from.

1.Start your day with a cup of water.

This cleanses the toxins out from the night and gets you on track for proper daily hydration. At first, it can be a little tricky to start your day drinking water on an empty stomach, especially if you're not a big water drinker-- but once your body adjusts and you get used of it, you will probably always want to start your day like this. Pro tip: pour a cup before you go to sleep and leave it on your nightstand :)

2. Sweat.

Whether you do a light stretch, quick yoga flow, or long HIIT workout-- I heard someone say that sweating a little every day helps you achieve the feeling of accomplishment. Working out releases endorphins which cause a positive effect on your body and mind.

3. Listen to your favorite music.

While you are doing taking a shower, doing makeup or cooking food, play some music! And if you have some extra time, dance! I always manage to make some time to listen to Morgan Wallen. I am pretty sure at this point I could perform his songs in a concert arena. I love country music, for the most part it is positive (and respectful) so it makes me happy to hear. If you are looking to get into country music, check out my post on my favorite intro country songs from a New Yorker's perspective!

4. Reflect.

I believe that there is always time to journal. Journaling helps you reflect on the positives and negatives in your day when you don't necessarily want to share that with someone else. I journal every night on my phone before I sleep. Check out my previous blog post on how I organize my virtual journal.

5. Read the bible.

Something that helped me stay on track with this is the Bible app. Especially in the beginning of my daily readings, when I felt like I did not know where to start, the verse of the day is very helpful to read. They also have a prayer that applies to the verse that you can read as well. A couple of my friends have this app and it is refreshing to talk about the verse of the day together.

6. Pray.

I pray every night and most mornings. I also have a prayer journal on my iPad with prayers I wrote for my close friends, peers, and "enemies." I feel like my day is not complete without praying for my family, friends and protection. Not only that, but asking God how I can serve Him and help make a positive difference in people's lives.

7. Smile.

Force yourself to smile even on sad or low energy days. Try to get a giggle or two in there too. Smiling and laughing causes your brain to release serotonin, dopamine and endorphins. These are the "happy hormones"that act as natural anti-depressants.
